What is a same-day crown?

A same-day crown is a custom-crafted dental crown that is designed, milled, and placed in a single appointment — eliminating the need for a temporary crown and a second visit. Using advanced CEREC® (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) technology, we take a digital impression of your tooth, design your crown on a 3D model, and mill it from a solid block of high-quality ceramic right here in our office.

The result is a strong, natural-looking crown that fits perfectly and is bonded into place before you leave.

What can same-day crowns do for you?

Same-day crowns offer exceptional versatility and are an ideal solution for:

  • Protecting a tooth weakened by extensive decay
  • Restoring a fractured, chipped, or worn-down tooth
  • Supporting a tooth with a large filling
  • Holding a dental bridge securely in place
  • Covering a dental implant
  • Improving the appearance of misshapen or discolored teeth

With same-day crowns, you get the durability and function of a traditional crown — plus the convenience of a single visit and the precision of computer-guided design.

What to expect with your same-day crown

Getting your same-day crown is a streamlined, comfortable experience:

1. Digital examination
We begin by examining your tooth and taking digital X-rays to assess the health of the root and surrounding bone. This confirms that a crown is the right solution for you.

2. Comfortable preparation
Your tooth is gently numbed to ensure you remain comfortable throughout the procedure. We then carefully shape the tooth to securely support the new crown.

3. Digital impression & design
Instead of messy impression material, we use a handheld intraoral scanner to create a precise digital impression of your tooth. Using advanced software, Dr. [Doctor Name] designs your custom crown on a 3D model, selecting the perfect shape and shade to match your natural teeth.

4. Milling & placement
While you relax in the treatment chair, our in-office milling unit fabricates your crown from a high-quality ceramic block — usually in about 15–20 minutes. Once ready, we bond your permanent crown into place, check your bite, and make any final adjustments.

5. Your new smile — same day
You walk out with a beautiful, strong, fully functional crown — all in a single visit.

If you’re ready to restore your smile without the wait, call us today or schedule your appointment online.
